A funny story from a friend
Enjoy this story that I am passing along!
Boogers…
Where to put boogers.
Tonight, as David and I were putting the boys in bed, just before devotionals, David spied something on the wall outside of the bathroom. As he got closer, he realized, without having to ask Cael, that it was in fact a large booger smeared on the wall. He did ask Cael, who immediately broke into tears…confirming David’s question.
David cleaned the wall as we talked to him about why he would put a booger on the wall in the first place. Our conversation:
David: “Cael, why did you put a booger on the wall?”
Cael: “I don’t know…I guess I didn’t know where else to put it.”
Mom: “The bathroom is right there.”
Cael: “I know, but sometimes I’m…not…near…the bathroom”
David: “Have you put them other places?”
(Both of us chuckling at this point)
Cael: “Yeeeeeesssss….(boo-hooing)
Both of us: “Where else?”
Cael: “In the car, all over my carseat…”
David (only because I was laughing so hard…): Why would you do that?
Cael: “I don’t know…there’s not a bathroom in the car…”
We told Cael he was going to have to clean his car seat tomorrow after church, but that it was late and he needed to go to bed. As we knelt to pray next to the bed, however, I ran my hand across a crusty mess of at least four boogers on the side of his bed. Gross! Cael immediately started crying again.
Mom: “Cael, why would you put a booger on the side of your bed?”
Cael: “Cause there wasn’t any more room on the other side…”
David and I are still chuckling over this one. Tomorrow, we plan on checking the whole house. Under chairs and tables, on the walls…everywhere. Cael will be right behind us with cleaning supplies and a sponge.

Our Visit with the Clints
This past week we had the opportunity to visit our friends the Clints in South Carolina for a few days. It was such a great trip! We thoroughly enjoyed our time with Chad and Melanie and their kids (our future son-in-laws as Chad and Kenneth like to think). The guys played a little golf, we all played some Wii (for the first time!), we cooked out a couple of times, fireworks (including some fun watching Chad and Kenneth set some off!), swam and enjoyed fellowship with many new and old friends! It was a much needed encouragement and blessing! The Clint kids and the Turner kids had a great time with one another and made some great new memories! Here are a couple of pictures from our visit with the Clints…

The Prodigal God

On the first hearing of this book title by Tim Keller, it kind of made me cringe. Why? The understanding I had of “prodigal” was of the “prodigal son” who left home and foolishly went away from his father and threw away all that he had. How could that mesh with God? Here is the definition of prodigal as written by Tim Keller : “recklessly extravagant, having spent everything.” Which after reading the book and pondering our God, is exactly what He is and did. He spent everything, an extravagant price, to redeem his children. This is such a good book and definitely worth reading. It tells the story of “the two sons” that we have come to know as the parable of “the prodigal son.” But as Keller explains, it is so much more than a story about the son that left and came home. Both brothers were separated from their father and each sought a different way of acceptance. The same is true with each of us. As a believer, I think this was an honest look at my own religious heart that can so often separate me from God. Check it out when you get a chance!

My first picture
Mr. UPS delivered my new camera on Friday! Yeah! It happened to be delivered right when I was in the middle of about 10 projects so I didn’t get a chance to play with it right away. I still have not had much time to play and to read up on all that it can do. But I have taken a few pictures. Here is my first picture with my new camera.
Sweet Eden. She is such a good baby and so sweet and happy. I lover her smile. When she smiles, she smiles with her whole body! Even her toes smiles!
Eden is rolling around now from front to back and vice versa. When she rolls over to her front, she pulls her legs up under her and scooches forward. The girls love entertaining her and making her laugh. And I love watching them do it!
Piper has turned over a new leaf in the last few weeks. She has started talking TONS and talking so much better. Since she can communicate better I think it has alleviated a lot of her frustration. It is fun to hear her talk and it often times makes Kenneth and I laugh because her sentence structures are so funny. Piper also believes “The Baby” should be looking at her at all times. And when “The Baby” is looking at her she should be laughing. Piper loves playing with Eden.
Sydney started school a week ago…. The Turner School. I started a program to teach her to read. She loves it and is doing so well. She learns a new sound ever other day and has learned (knows the sound, can identify it and can write it) m, s, a, t, e. Yeah! Sydney is still our creative one loving to color, make up stories and song, dressing up and pretending. She too loves talking to Eden and making her laugh.
The girls have been playing so well together. Piper can really play with Sydney now which is fun to see. They play house a lot and put on shows together. It really is so fun to see them interacting together and entertaining one another!

A lesson in exercising
So, my four-year-old decided to bring back the “forgotten two-year-old-full-throttle temper tantrum.” Not that I don’t see enough of these with my two-year old, but they are rare these days with my four-year old (for which I am thankful!). Okay, I am talking jumping up and down, thrashing and wailing- you know, the whole bit. Upon being disciplined for this behavior, she nonchalantly and calmly tried to explain to be how she was just exercising. Discipline session over, I lost it, way too funny. I thought, “where does she come up with this stuff.” But you know, we all do this. When confronted by our sin, we too often try to cover it up and make it look like something it’s not- something good- like exercise.
Continuing to be taught by my children.

Hide-and-seek
If we all make it through Piper’s childhood, it will surely be a miracle of God!
So my friend Katie came by the other day. She literally was only here for no more than 2 minutes. She parked in front of our house and ran down to drop something off in our garage and then left. Right after she left we couldn’t find Piper. We searched the whole house while screaming her name. No answer. Sick feeling. We checked outside and started going to neighbors’ yards- still yelling her name. No answer. Getting even sicker. There was a crew of men working a few doors down on a roof and my mind just started conjuring up terrible stories. Feelings of terror stared to creep up. Kenneth suggested calling my friend Katie- just in case. I called. She answered. As she picked up she screamed my name. She had just gotten to the store, opened her back door to get out her baby, and there was Piper crouched down behind the seats having never said the first word. Piper apparently darted out the front door at the speed of light and jumped in Katie’s van as we were all in the garage. She climbed in and just decided to go for a ride, I guess. Not even a peep. I am thankful Katie had her son with her or else she may not have checked the backseat before going into the store leaving Piper in a hot car. Uggh.
Again, thanking God for his mercy and protection. Are you seeing a theme here? Please continue to pray for our adventurous daughter!
